Well sorta. It was a largely British production filmed in Australia called "Whiplash" (a western) which featured an American (Peter Graves) in the lead role. In aired in the early 1960s (1960-1961 according to IMDb)

....and damn it, the DVD isn't Australian, but an out-of-print British release. Says a lot about the state of 1960s Australian TV on DVD that isn't "Skippy".

Would it be OK for me to buy the out-of-print DVD of this presumably public domain (don't UK and Aus both have 50 year terms of TV show copyright?) and rip the contents to here?

I'd like to know.

On a side note, I just watched a modernized, Australian version of Macbeth on Netflix that was PDG (pretty darned good).

I'd like to see that.
